Electrical callouts cover fault finding, replacing a faulty breaker, repairing a short circuit, renewing an ageing consumer unit, adding sockets, switches and two-way lighting, installing chandeliers, spotlights and LED strips, and running a dedicated line for an air conditioner, an oven or an induction hob. The electrician checks the earth, the balance of the circuits and the rating of each protection before closing the board. Every job ends with a load test, a tidy work area and payment by card (CMI) or in cash, whichever suits you.

What the electrician can handle

  • Fault finding and consumer unit diagnosis
  • Replacing breakers, fuses and residual current devices
  • Short circuit repair and faulty line tracing
  • Adding sockets, switches and two-way lighting
  • Installing chandeliers, spotlights, wall lights and LED strips
  • Running a dedicated line for an air conditioner, oven or water heater
  • Earthing and bringing an old installation up to standard
  • Replacing ageing wiring in chases or trunking

Your questions about electrical repairs

How much does a home electrician cost in Morocco?

The callout and diagnosis run from 80 to 150 DH. A simple repair — a breaker, a socket or a faulty line — costs 150 to 350 DH, fitting a light point 120 to 350 DH, and replacing a full consumer unit 800 to 2000 DH. These figures are indicative; the exact price is given to you after the diagnosis.

My breaker keeps tripping, what causes it?

Three causes come up again and again: a faulty appliance putting the line in fault, an overload because too many heavy appliances share one circuit, or damp getting into a socket or a back box. The electrician isolates the circuits one by one to find the culprit, then fixes the cause instead of simply resetting the breaker.

Can an electrician come out at night or at the weekend?

Yes. A total power cut, a burning smell, a hot consumer unit or a blackened socket are treated as priorities, including in the evening and at weekends, in Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech and Tanger. A surcharge applies to those slots; it is given to you before the professional is dispatched, never added afterwards.

Should the whole consumer unit be replaced or just repaired?

As long as the protections are correctly rated and the earth is sound, replacing a single breaker is enough. A full rebuild becomes necessary when the board still uses fuses, when no residual current device protects the circuits, or when the outgoing lines can no longer be identified. The electrician shows you the real condition before recommending either option.

Does the electrician supply the materials?

He arrives with the usual small parts: connectors, conduit, standard sockets and switches, and breakers in the most common ratings. For a chandelier, a complete board or a long run of cable, you can supply the item or ask the professional to buy it; the amount is added to the quote and approved by you before purchase.
